The German, family-owned company Speick Natural Cosmetics has been in business since 1928. Speick is now in its third generation and is managed by Wikhart Teuffel, the grandson of founder Walter Rau.

Speick’s goal has always been the same: to develop natural cosmetics and natural products with a focus on health, vitality, and natural beauty.

The products are based on the medicinal plant Speick, which is known for its soothing and nourishing properties. It is known that the oil from the roots of the Speick plant has been used for skin care by the ancient Egyptians as far back as 500 B.C. Speick Natural Cosmetics is the only manufacturer in the world that produces products containing the unique extract from the Speick plant.

In 1958, the founder, Walter Rau, observed that the environment affects our skin, and he therefore started developing natural cosmetics and products.

Speick the plant was already used for medicinal purposes in the 10th century. The physician Galen cured the emperor Marcus Aurelius, who had stomach problems, with Speick. Speick was worth its weight in gold and was later very heavily taxed. Speick was exported to Turkey, Syria, Morocco and Sudan until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1936 was Speick threatened with extinction and was placed under protection. Thereby lost Speick immediately lost its economic importance and went into oblivion.

In the products are combined Speick extract with other ingredients and also contains, for example, algae and silica combined with the fruity scent of essential oils.

Speick uses raw materials from biologically regulated cultivation, works with natural fragrances, essential oils and only with natural preservatives. Speick also produces its own plant extracts and has never tested on animals.

Since its inception, the small family business has developed, produced and distributed near Stuttgart. Some of the steps in the manufacturing process are still done by hand, then Speick not wanting to abandon the simple production process in favor of machines.

Environmental and social criteria play a central role in the selection of Speick's raw materials and packaging. The company mainly aims to work with partners from the region to avoid long transport distances as well as to strengthen the local economic system.
